MY FAVORITE MARTIAN (1999) ** Great cast and casting: Christopher Lloyd was obviously born to play the Martian; Elizabeth Hurley is nothing if not a limited talent bitchy media leech with boobs desperately trying to fight their way out of a tight white dress; Daryl Hannah is sweet California casual incarnate, and Jeff Bridges is a boring guy. Why Bridges is taken with Hurley at the expense of Hannah may legitimately have something to do with the Ferrari, but I do at least hope that Daryl had to act at being jealous of her rival. Good pacing, delivery, lines, and facial gestures (not the least from Hurley); dancing ice cream, reverential Grateful Dead references, opera and bubble bath...has anyone else noticed that the US government is always bad in Disney movies these days? Strange statement from a corporation that owns more than a quarter of the media.
