KANSAS CITY CONFIDENTIAL (1952) **1/2 I'm shocked to say it, but Jack Elam has even more of a rat-face than Lee Van Cleef. Definitely two big heads you want in a film noire whose knotted plot ends up somewhere towards a fake fishing trip in Mexico . John Payne seems tough enough to take 'em both, too, maybe he gets a lucky break. I don't know if it inspired more criminals or movie makers, but I figure there's something in there for both. Also for students of jurisprudence, wondering how interrogation might have been before Miranda .
