MUPPET TREASURE ISLAND (1996) ** Robert Louis Stevenson's story is so great that it can be used as a backdrop to a love story between a reckless amphibian and an over-sexed piglet. And yes, I believe that he would claim this as his own, kind of. Tim Curry sings-nicely as always-but this doesn't have much else in common with The Rocky Horror Picture Show . Well, wait, maybe, actually, well the songs in this one are pretty good, too. Not great like Rocky , but more than a little bit better than your standard Broadway faire. Not that they play fast and loose with the plot, but they do enough that it wouldn't have hurt to throw in another excuse or two for Jennifer Saunders to throw another hissy fit. That was rad. Or she could have got in a fight with those masthead guys, you know… They probably did right in playing it safe, to the extent to which that can be done utilizing vulgar puppets to portray classic literature.
