RANDY RIDES ALONE (1934) *1/2 It can't be much of a demographic, but for those who prefer their John Wayne in too much makeup this is a film for you! The rest of us will settle for being disappointed, as he takes damn near the entire movie before his kicks anyone's ass, and has no droll lines to utter. In fact, he mostly allows himself to get thrown in jail and lets people keep takin' away his guns…he apparently hasn't turned into John Wayne yet. The story seems suspiciously like a first effort by someone who doesn't know much about cowboys (nice badman hideout beneath the waterfall, but wouldn't all those horses tied up outside draw attention?), but it moves along and concludes before they convince you that there's absolutely nothing to it.
