SCOOBY-DOO MEETS BATMAN (2002) ** You have to admit, out of all the ideas in the history of the world this belongs somewhere in the top half. It doesn't bother me that it's two different stories run back-to-back, rather than welded. Lots of movies do that without admitting it, so this one's at least honest. How much more than that can you expect out of a cartoon about a talking dog? If you expect more you won't get it anyway, so don't. Batman and Robin are much lamer than usual, and the worst of it is that neither the Joker nor the Penguin do much of anything to pick up the slack. The Scooby gang cruise through it in character, parts of it are pretty funny and there's nothing about it that's irritating. Doesn't rise to the heights suggested to be possible by the concept, or the alternate heights that Scoob occasionally conquers, but again, that's not the stuff you have much right to expect out of an animated dog speaking through pursed lips to a grown man dressed up like a bat in order to foil evil doers wearing too much make-up and bad shoes.
