THIS IS SPINAL TAP (1984) ***1/2 If you love rock 'n' roll for all the right reasons; if you think that there's something entertaining about stupidity bolstered by unbridled arrogance; if you think that the only question involved in the question "Who's a greater rock 'n' roll band, the Ramones or Emerson, Lake & Palmer?" is whether or not ELP is a rock band, or already know that they aren't; if you're more interested in knowing the price of a six-pack than the capital of Namibia.this is one of the funniest movies that you'll ever see. One of the many great ironies is that the mockumentary about a fake band is so great that the band became real, and I have both of their albums to prove it. So real that they were the guest stars on Saturday Night Live, where the lead guitarist said something like, "Well, it wasn't Mozart's fault that he didn't have an amp. He played as loud as he could!" Behold, my brethren, a mighty thing of wielding.
