THUNDERBIRDS (2004) ** They don't have the cool uniforms like in the puppet-mation, and it would have been better if they could have had strings holding up their arms, but this is good fun and passable enough. Not inspired, but unashamedly for kids. No wasting time with clever talk or elements to please parents, all energies into a simple tale of complex gadgetry. Saving the world from an arch-villain (Ben Kingsley has come a long way from Gandhi , I think, this must have been very relaxing for him) is always good for an hour or two, but the best bits are probably the class-consciousness-laden repartee between Sophia Myles and Ron Cook. Some popcorn is required, and you'll feel clever if you already know that FAB stands interchangeably for "fully acknowledged broadcast" and "fabulous" going in.
