EL ZORRO LA BELVA DEL COLORADO (Zorro, 1975) *1/2 Some movies there just isn't too much to say. I like the dog: I like the way he's repeatedly worked into the plot, particularly in the least likely moments, and I like the actor. Alain Delon is funny as the foppish governor, but never gains much traction as the superhero. There's a lack of earnestness about it that's endearing, but only to the extent of its absence. Not much to sell tickets to. The very poppy song that they keep repeating is more jaunty than good, and I wish that the rest of the film was so jaunty. There's enough to it to remind you why Zorro (like Robin Hood) is probably a big deal in Marxist circles, and around Steinbeck campfires, but more along the magnitude of nodding than waving a flag.
